More than just sound hygiene
A striking number of Mozart works are on the programme in the coming weeks.
Mozart is like brushing your teeth for an orchestra, "it's part of everyday sound hygiene": So says conductor Petr Popelka, who made his debut at the Tonhalle Zurich last November (although not with Mozart). Musical dentists and dental hygienists should now be satisfied in the coming weeks: Because there is quite a lot of Mozart on the programme.
Paavo Järvi conducts the last three symphonies, Isabelle Faust plays the Violin Concerto No. 5 and there is also chamber music for different instrumentations in three concerts. However, unlike brushing your teeth, it will undoubtedly not just be spotless: With Mozart, sound hygiene can also mean not polishing the surface, but roughening it. Hitting a nerve here and there. And to make the interplay so lively, intense and peppermint-fresh that it is definitely more fun than brushing your teeth.
