Mahler's Symphony No. 5 – "Classic of the Classics"
What must you have heard from the great repertoire of classical music? Mahler's Fifth!
It was initially received cautiously by the public: The Fifth was a "cursed work", Mahler wrote, "no-one can get it". But that has long since changed and today it is one of the most popular symphonies of all. And it has even made a film career: Luchino Visconti used the "Adagietto" from it in his cult film "Death in Venice".
Our solo trumpeter Philippe Litzler plays us an excerpt from Mahler's 5th Symphony.
