Bruckner Symphony No. 7 on CD

The first recording from our Bruckner cycle is now available.

Anton Bruckner's music fits perfectly into the DNA of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, says music director Paavo Järvi. That's why he wanted a cycle of Bruckner's symphonies; some of them will also be released on CD.

The series begins with a recording of Bruckner's Symphony No. 7, which was recorded in January 2022. Bruckner was already 60 years old when he finally made his breakthrough as a composer with this work. He had long been appreciated and celebrated as an organ virtuoso and teacher; but his symphonies met with widespread incomprehension. The composer was quite accustomed to numerous listeners walking out during performances. At the Leipzig premiere of the Seventh in 1884, however, they remained seated. The last applause lasted a quarter of an hour, Bruckner noted, as amazed as he was happy.
