It all started with a vision: violinist and conductor Christopher Whiting once sat in the orchestra – and suddenly wondered what it would be like if the musicians swapped places with the audience. In 2018, the vision became reality: the audience orchestra had its first performance. Since then, there has been an intensive exchange between our musicians and the audience during rehearsals and music-making. This year, too, the Audience Orchestra will present its fifth concert under the direction of Christopher Whiting and coached by members of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich. The programme includes works by de Falla and Stravinsky, and in Ibert's flute concerto our solo flutist Sabine Poyé Morel will make the music float.
