Philippe Jordan from Zurich was General Music Director of the Paris Opera for many years and has also recorded two major works by Ravel on CD with the orchestra there: "Daphnis et Chloé" and "La valse". He now conducts both in Zurich, as well as the "Valses nobles et sentimentales": a threefold immersion in a world of sound full of dazzling colours and atmospheric contrasts. The North Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčeski, whom Zurich audiences once got to know as the leader of the brilliantly performing folk music group Makedonissimo, plays Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2, a work that combines the demonic with the intimate, always in keeping with the composer's motto, who wanted to "create new forms for new ideas, new bottles for new wine".
