Patrick Hahn Takes Over For David Zinman
News & Geschichten
«You Shouldn't Panic When You Step in»

Unfortunately, on the advice of his doctors, our honorary conductor David Zinman has to forego the trip to Zurich. He very much regrets the cancellation, but is optimistic that he will be able to conduct the concerts planned for the coming season.

In his place, Patrick Hahn will conduct Bruckner's Symphony No. 4 with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich. The 27-year-old Austrian is considered one of the most promising representatives of his generation, and his debut with our orchestra has been in the pipeline for some time - now it will come sooner than planned. Patrick Hahn has already conducted numerous important orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra London and the Dresden Philharmonic. He has been general music director in Wuppertal since the 2021/22 season.

With him, 22-year-old violinist Noa Wildschut will also come to the Tonhalle Zürich: she will take on the solo part in Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, replacing Beethoven's overture «Weihe des Hauses». The Dutchwoman already thrilled the Zurich audience in 2016 when she performed in our Série jeunes. She also already has a long list of important collaborations; she has performed with the Kremerata Baltica and the Camerata Salzburg, with Janine Jansen and Igor Levit and many more. She was once the youngest scholarship holder of the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation, and has been awarded the ECHO Rising Star for the 2019/20 season.

Tickets already purchased for the concerts remain valid.
