The British composer and conductor Thomas Adès, who will be Creative Chair of the Tonhalle- Orchester Zürich in 2025/26, is one of the most sought-after contemporary artists. He is also an inspiring pianist and can be experienced as such at "Literature and Music": He will play two of his lucid and lively mazurkas for solo piano, which were written to mark the Chopin anniversary in 2010. They already make it clear how captivatingly he combines complexity and immediate comprehensibility in his music. As a passionate chamber musician, he stages various aspects of human existence from the piano together with musicians from the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich in his work "Növények" ("Plants", "Things that grow"). This cycle of Hungarian poems about plants and people is juxtaposed with masterful literary metamorphoses - from Ovid to Marcel Proust with his 3000-page, summery and fragrant "Search for Lost Time".
