Die Orgel

The film contains intertitles in English and subtitles in German.

Organ and silent film – a combination that was taken for granted in the early days of cinema and which has regained great popularity in recent years. The Parisian master organist and composer Thierry Escaich takes the audience into fantastic worlds of sound with his live improvised music to Rupert Julian's 1925 film masterpiece – and into the catacombs of the Paris Opera: goosebumps and listening pleasure are guaranteed!

The International Organ Festival Zurich 2024 is curated by organist and focus artist Iveta Apkalna and Prof. Tobias Willi, in consultation with Dr Hans-Peter Fricker, President of the Friends of the New Zurich Tonhalle Organ Association.
