"Cristian Mačelaru knows what I'm going to do next before I do," violinist Augustin Hadelich once said in connection with a joint CD recording. Now the two are meeting in Zurich for Brahms' Violin Concerto – with an orchestra to which they both have close ties. Augustin Hadelich travelled with our musicians to the legendary London Proms in September 2023. And for Cristian Mačelaru, our Honorary President David Zinman is the teacher who changed his life: "I learnt one hundred per cent from him what it means to develop a clear idea and convey it to the orchestra," he told the NZZ ahead of his Zurich debut in October 2022. It was therefore no coincidence that he and the orchestra hit it off straight away. But a good reason to continue the collaboration now.
