the great pianist Géza Anda died in Zurich in 1976. Two years later, his widow Hortense Anda-Bührle founded the Géza Anda Foundation, which organised the first Concours in 1979. It is still a special competition today, as the young pianists not only compete in various rounds; those who win the final also receive prize money as well as numerous performance opportunities for three years. The competition's repertoire is modelled on that with which Géza Anda once became famous. And he is also likely to have set the bar in terms of artistic attitude: A pianist must become one with a work, he once wrote, "one should embrace the work like a scorpion and absorb it". Which works it will be this time: That has yet to be decided.
You will find the livestream shortly beforehand on Géza Anda's website.
