The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich are jointly presenting a talk concert with Bryce Dessner, who is Creative Chair of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich this season. As a composer on the one hand and guitarist in the indie rock band The National on the other, he moves through different worlds and deals artistically with the challenges of our society.
In conversation with Bryce Dessner and curator Bettina Richter, moderated by Dr Ulrike Thiele, we will build a bridge between the art of design and music. Various aspects of the exhibition "Talking Bodies - Body Images in Posters" will be compared with Bryce Dessner's perspective as an artist: What stereotypes does he see himself confronted with - as a rock star as well as in the classical music world? How does he confront them with his art? And what changes has he observed in the more than 20 years of his work?
Two musicians from ZHdK will play two works by Bryce Dessner in the middle of the current exhibition. Equipped with headphones and folding stools, the audience is invited to wander through the exhibition and take on new perspectives themselves.
