«Heartily recommended»

We are delighted to have been nominated for ‘Orchestra of the Year’ by the renowned British music magazine *Gramophone*. This title can only be won through public votes.

Every year, the editorial team of the British classical music magazine presents several Gramophone Classical Music Awards in various categories. The ‘Orchestra of the Year’ award is the only one decided by the public. We are therefore delighted to receive every single vote that could, from now on, help the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich 2026 be named ‘Orchestra of the Year’ here.

We owe our place amongst the six ensembles that have made it onto the shortlist for this award to our recordings. In the November issue (2025), the Gramophone journalist described his impressions of Mahler’s First Symphony conducted by Paavo Järvi as follows: 'I do believe this is one of the best – perhaps even the best – account of Mahler's precocious First Symphony that I've heard on disc since the celebrated Bernstein/Concertgebouw version (DG, 3/89). ... Put simply this account rekindles much of the excitement that I for one experienced in hearing the piece for the first time. Heartily recommended.'
