Due to health reasons, conductor Philippe Jordan has had to cancel this concert. Thomas Guggeis will conduct in his place. The programme remains unchanged, tickets remain valid.
Maurice Ravel created his very own world of sound in his works - dazzling and refined, rich in nuance and extremely French. The 32-year-old conductor Thomas Guggeis is now conducting three of his works: the "Valses nobles et sentimentales", "Daphnis et Chloé" and "La valse". Guggeis began his career as an assistant to Daniel Barenboim; he was later Kapellmeister in Stuttgart, Staatskapellmeister in Berlin and guest conductor with many major orchestras from the Berlin Philharmonic to the Cleveland Orchestra. He has been General Music Director of the Frankfurt Opera since 2023. He is now introducing himself to Zurich audiences for the first time.
