The Georgian pianist and this year's focus artist Khatia Buniatishvili once said that for her, the piano is an instrument of total freedom, but also of loneliness. Both "are important parts of a person's essence and being. The piano illustrates this very well". Because it can do almost anything, "celebrate, be sad or intimate, symphonic ... No other instrument has these incredibly many dimensions." The works in which she will showcase this diversity are still open.
